I was just in town for a visit, but had a great experience shopping here for accessories. As a female mountain biker, I'm used to being in the minority & sometimes being ignored/talked down to in bike shops; but these guys were all super friendly and welcoming, I wouldn't hesitate to shop there in the future.

Alex at Wheat Ridge Cyclery spent quite a bit of time helping me select the perfect bike and accessories for the kind of biking I plan to do in the future. There was a great selection of bikes and all other items I needed. Alex also helped with best practices loading and unloading to/from my car, correct use of bike features, etc. which will help my bike to have a longer life. Wheat Ridge Cyclery will be my go to store for all future bike needs.

Consistently Disappointing Service go to Mikes Bikes*** cheaper and better service

I really wanted to like Wheatridge Cyclery. They’re a local, veteran-owned business with knowledgeable staff, but after multiple poor experiences, I’m thoroughly disappointed.

I’ve purchased two bikes from them, and today I was ready to buy a third, but this marks the fourth time they’ve fallen short.

The first issue occurred during COVID, which was understandably chaotic, but their attitude was overly neurotic and rude. I purchased a $9k bike that had construction issues within a week. Despite the high cost, they pushed me to the back of the service line for an appointment, and it took weeks to get it fixed.

Earlier this year, I brought the same bike in for a full service (costing over $300). The tech didn’t properly tighten or lube the axles, didn’t return seat, and loosened my clips. It would have been fine had they warned me but not a word had to find out when I got on the hill. The axle even came out while I was riding, and had I not noticed in time, I could have been seriously injured. I had to bring the bike back twice to get these issues fixed. The tech who eventually corrected it apologized profusely, but they hadn’t even lubed the chain, which left me wondering what else had been overlooked. I got half a ride in before having major issues.

Then, I decided to buy a Specialized road bike from them to support a local shop instead of ordering directly from Specialized. I was told it would arrive in a week. After two weeks after the date of expected arrival and no word, I had to follow up. They couldn’t locate the bike, and when it finally arrived after another week, I was told it would be a while before they could get to it.

Today was the last straw. I went in to purchase a new bike and spent 10–15 minutes wandering around while the staff sat at their computers or chatted with each other. No one offered assistance, so I left.

Everyone in my riding circle avoids this shop, and now I understand why.

I ended up going to Mike’s Bikes in Highlands Ranch instead. The service was prompt and professional, and I bought a new Santa Cruz. On top of that, the sales tax was only 5%. Maybe a good recession will help them value their clients.

I was recently in the market for a new bike for my daughter, who had outgrown her current bike. She also happens to race for her local high school XC MTB team, and we were still mid-season. I was initially drawn to Wheat Ridge Cyclery for how they had priced the Yeti ASR; however, it was their exceptional customer service that really blew me away.

After purchasing the bike, I sent an email to inquire if we might have the bike in time for her upcoming race. I want to stress that I never asked for anything; I only inquired so expectations could be managed with my daughter. That simple email kicked off a string of events, from the shop being in communication nearly daily, picking up the frame and parts directly from Yeti, moving it to the front of the build queue, and even hand-delivering it to the carrier to make it out by the weekend.

The service I received from Steve and Dustin was second to none. And to say they’ve earned my return business is an understatement! My daughter ended up with an 8th place (her best yet) on her new ride and is over the moon with it. Also, please give my regards to Dustin’s dog, who sacrificed his usual seat while the bike was being transported to the carrier.

Both Jim and Matt are fantastic at Wheat Ridge. Jim helped me purchase a new Specialized gravel bike which I am really enjoying (sold me on etap!), and Matt D was so patient and detailed with getting the right pedal/cleat setup for the bike. The shop also just has a ton of high quality gear and bikes.

I wish I could give this place a hundred stars! I went in twice this week to get assistance with some cycling shoes for indoor spin classes. Jay was quick to welcome me on Thursday afternoon. He led me over to the cleats I needed and gave excellent advice on which ones I should go with. I returned the next day after installing the cleats to see if I could get some coaching on how to clip in & out of the pedals so I can be ready for an upcoming spin class in town. I believe it was John (?) who assisted me today Jan. 10 around 11:30am. He was so very kind to me, and he set up a bike for me to practice my new cleats. He gave such solid advice and tips on how to feel comfortable with the motion. Most importantly, his encouragement gave me the confidence boost I needed.
I highly recommend WRC – their service and dedication to helping customers is second to none.
